Personal Mechatronics Lab. Blogs Videos Photos. After all, this is a toaster oven. The toaster oven can fit up to 6 pieces of bread at a time.

The drawback to this is that it made the toast time longer. Depending on toast settings, the timer automatically sets for between three and seven minutes, which is longer than a conventional toaster, or at least my own. In the following photos, I toasted whole wheat bread at levels 2,4,6, and 8. Levels two and four toasted pretty evenly on the bottom side closest to the heating element, with unexpected black lines really popping through on the second to lowest settings.

Six toasted as expected, while eight was almost overkill in the toaster, which came out smoking. It was also much more charred on the bottom than the top. The essential addition of a metal crumb tray and a non-stick interior makes it easier to catch the inevitable droppings from toasts and clean up any sticky bits.

Whatever drips down from the air fryer basket, was a bit of a different story. However, when air frying, say breaded chicken, the little panko crumbs inevitably made it to the bottom of the oven and led to some extra clean-up. I also found that many recipes I came across recommended spraying the air fryer basket or even the food. Your best bet here is to toss ingredients beforehand if any oil is recommended to add.

Adding aluminum foil to the basket would seem to block the idea of the any-angle air fryer. It almost seems unfair to categorize the KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry among our roundup of the top toaster ovens, because in full transparency, this Countertop Oven could replace your own oven for feeding small households. The KitchenAid Countertop Oven with Air Fry is an elegant-looking appliance, with ample cooking space, that delivers consistent results. Like any new kitchen appliance, calculating the right amount of time to cook to a recipe can feel like a bit of trial and error.

And that was certainly the case as I acclimated to my new countertop appliance — from figuring out the right placement for toast to getting the right temperature and timing for fries.

To cancel timer, touch Timer keypad while the Timer countdown is active in the display. Activate to avoid unintended start.

Touch and hold the Cancel keypad for about 3 seconds until 2 tones sound and padlock icon appears in the display. Repeat to unlock control. Scroll speed of the text may be adjusted. Set the cooktop light to turn on and off at certain times. Language of the display text may be changed. The actual convection cooking temperature may be calibrated higher or lower than the displayed temperature. Activate to practice using the control without actually turning on the magnetron.

The Demo icon will light up in the display. Repeat to deactivate. When no functions are working hour clock is displayed or if the clock has not been set , oven will switch to Standby Power mode and dim the LCD brightness after 5 minutes. Turntable may be turned off for manual cooking only. This is helpful when cooking with plates that are bigger than the turntable or when cooking with plates that are side by side.

Turntable cannot be turned off during preset or sensor on some models functions. Use the rectangular cooking rack only for 2-level cooking. To avoid damage to the microwave oven, always remove rack after 2-level cooking.

To avoid damage to the microwave oven due to soil buildup, and then clean rack supports often. The convection element and fan are embedded in the wall of the microwave oven cavity, behind the metal screen. Use the short convection rack for convection cycles baking or roasting. Place cookware directly on rack for bake and for some roast functions. Some roast functions require that the food be placed directly on the rack. Use a microwave-safe, ovenproof dish or pan under the rack to catch the drippings.

Use the steamer vessel base, insert, and lid for steaming or use just the base and lid for simmering. If dish becomes hot and the water stays cool, do not use the dish in the microwave oven. Use the provided convection rack and a microwave-safe, ovenproof baking dish.
